Golf addicts, sound off. I know there has to be more than @WNYTony and me that torture ourselves by playing pasture pool.
I thought I'd start a thread to discuss this madness that masquerades as a game.

I've been an avid golfer for 9 years now, and play easily 60+ games a year. Probably close to 40 games this spring already. Made a vow this year to improve my swing (Lefty with a slice) and lower my scores by means other than the foot wedge, etc. Been pretty steady around high 80's, low 90's for 5 years or so.
Monday I walked 18 holes, and was shooting as close to lights out as I've ever done. Shot an 82 with a real good chance of being in the 70's. (Carded one triple bogey)
My "power fade" as i call it qas nothing more than a baby fade with the mid irons, getting slightly worse moving into the long irons and woods.
Short irons/ wedges have always been pretty straight, but tend to pull them as of late.
I owe a lot to a YouTube coach by the name of Danny Maude. He is a very high energy instructor that teaches by way of reverse engineering the golf swing. Great stuff.
Check him out if you are so inclined.

So where is everybody else at in their quest for the perfect swing?

Been a lifelong golfer my pap cut down clubs for me at the age of 3. Started golf lessons at age 9. Started playing junior tournaments at 12 and won my first one at 14. I have won over 30 junior tournaments over the years. I’ve been to the state championship multiple times and made all state team 2x. I had over 25 colleges recruit me and 13 offers mostly D2 a few D1 schools out west which I didn’t want to go that far from home. I signed with a local D2 school for a golf scholarship of 4k. Unfortunately even at huge schools there’s not a ton of money for golf. I love the game and play 3-4 days a week.

Oh god! Golf is life. Too bad I live in an area where we can golf four months out of the year!

I picked it up during college and basically played on occasion for the next 15 years. Typical massive slicer with the occasional nice shot.

A number of years back my wife (then g/f) decided she wanted to learn to golf and I figured I should probably get a lesson or two.

Fast forward to today and I have a two way miss and I can shoot anywhere from about 82 to 110 depending on the day and the miss in place. I just dont get enough practice in. The years when I'm playing and practicing more the scores come down. Right now with the spring we've had im currently in an "OFF" phase heh.

Every year in August I go on a golf trip to indiana with 20-30 guys (depends on the year). We play 18 weds, 18 thurs (just driving in from NY) then for the outing we play 36 friday, 36 saturday and 18 sunday AM before hopping in the car to drive the 8.5 hrs home. Its a fantastic weekend!

You know, if you stood on the correct side of the ball @Redneck_toy that would be a nice draw and you'd love it !

Hit the ball a little better tonight in league, 41.
If i started drawing the ball, i wouldnt be doing what most pga players are playing now.
The fade is the new draw it seems.
Going out tomorrow for 18. Hope Monday's new swing shows up with me....

They dont need the draw for distance anymore and the fade has far more control (and in some case stopping ability) to it so they're prefer it. It's also generally an easier swing for even tour pros to make.

I wish I had 1/2 of their control on my "fades" :)

Don’t think I can call myself a golf nut yet but I’ve been playing for a solid 6-8 years and I’ve been stuck in the 90s for as long as I can remember. Anything inside 70 yds is a wasted stroke for me. No Courses near by have practice greens you can chip or pitch onto so there isn’t much I can do to overcome that. My putting is dog shit too but my irons and long clubs have improved substantially this year thanks to YouTube and Instagram coaches posting free tips. And yes I will continue to blame my 10yr old+ driver for all of my shortfalls on the course.

About to head to the course to try my new 23* Hybrid out. I love the looks of this club. Wilson Staff C300. Replacing my current Adams Super S hybrids and woods that are a touch long in the tooth. (6 years). The red is not near as bright as the pics make it out to be. More of a flat pearl maroon.15599227813022931119151677041707.jpg

Im guessing 10 yds on a good shot, 30 on a not so good one. I hit my old Adams Super S 4 hybrid about 195 if it went straight(ish) with a flush hit.

Yeah, I'm a golf freak also. Started in late 20s. Got pretty good with a mildly OTT swing...qualified for some state tournaments, etc. Fast forward to a year ago I decided to fix my OTT swing. Now I'm a sloppy 6hcp who can't break 80. But I'm gonna keep at it. I'm becoming a pretty proficient range player with the swing changes. Still love the game but the change process is excruciating. Makes me feel better that @camaroshow with his resume shot a 39!

Wilson has really come on recently with their clubs. Enjoy the new stick. I can't play hybrids as I'm a hook machine with em. I have 3-5 irons in my bag.

Wow, from 6 up, mine are all hybrids. The 6 hybrid i bought last year. You know how hard it is to find a 6hy. that isnt senior flex???? Had to go with tour edge. Guess what? I hit the exact same ball flight and distance as my 6i.. Waste of money. But the 5 and 4 are hybrids. Thinking of going 5 wood instead of 2hy. Not sure yet. Ill keep yall posted.
The WS 23* hybrid was badass today. Well worth the $125 i paid for it.
