It was good. It's labeled as a blend of straight whiskies, but didnt specify what whiskies. I think I taste a rye influence, so may be a straight rye in the mix. My dad loved it... too many favorite choices on the table, so I didnt spend a lot of time with the blackened yet.

They were selling their beer on Monday at the show, I asked about the bourbon.....no dice :cautious:

That's a 1st I've heard regarding Blanton's but tp each their own. I will not chase it......I see it and have the cash, yep.

I can see both these points. I like Blantons. It's a good bourbon. But at some point, there are diminishing returns for the higher cost bottles. When you have ER, HMcK, KC SiB store picks, a bunch of good value options available, its hard to drop big $. That said, I'll drop $65 on stuff I know is good, so Blanton's is still in my cabinet routinely. Above that cost, I'd better have either first hand experience, or 2nd hand from someone whose palate I trust.

Actually they were here in Indy on Monday 3/11. This was my 5th time seeing them and they did no disappoint. The seats sucked, but they were free, so no bitching. They played 22 songs, and even a couple that I wasn't expecting like "Ride The Lightning" & "Fight Fire With Fire" the stage show (well lights really) were really something. Great show, and free to boot, so that helped as well ha.

Did you download your show? Which show was it? I am still waiting on my show to open up to dl, but I did find 5 shows I want to download:

Yes. Blantons is great stuff, but hard to justify the cost vs what you mentioned
If nobody has ever tried Evan Williams Single Barrel - I will always sing its praises for being at under $30 & readily available

Exactly! I won't say that I will never buy Blantons again, but around here, you have to really hunt to find it....and even then, it isn't always priced properly. I need to find another bottle of HMcK...great stuff. EW SiB is also a fantastic bargain bottle!

That’s great and free to boot! We went to the Nashville show. No, I haven’t downloaded it, I didn’t even know you could. I’ll have my daughter get on that and yeah, we can definitely trade.
