Went to the royal gallery of at Hubert (big shopping area with a roof between the alleyway. Stopped at Mokafe and had some coffee and a Belgian waffle with vanilla ice cream and chocolate ganache.

Orval gift shop. Most all the operations are off bounds to tourists. Some of them will do 1 day a year tour... going to La Chouffe today as well.

Wednesday was southern Belgium. A quick 2hr drive south of Brussels leads us down to a small town with big charm and a castle defending the town along the semois River.

It was highly recommended to come to this restaurant for mussels and frites. 25€ got your an arsenal of food! I got the royal: mussels with shrimp, vegis, tomato’s, garlic, mushrooms, white wine and cream. Barely finished this meal!

Off to Corbion to visit me. Vincent manil who makes Belgium grown pipe tobacco. He gave me a nice tour of his very small facility where he makes one of the pipe tobacco blends I enjoy. Seriously, this place was small, the basement of a house. He also has a small tobacco museum. Unfortunately he wasn’t doing to well and walking with a cane as he is awaiting a knee replacement.

This is still a very hands on process for this special pipe tobacco.

Sadly time was tight so I had to pass up the visit of abbey orval. So straight to Achouffe I went. First to the gift shop of La Chouffe brewery. Nothing but country out here and farms for miles.

Since it was some sort of holiday (changing of the seasons) most places were closed of the 3 places to eat in Achouffe. Luckily one was open, La Petite Fountaine. It was eh okay, bar food really. Beer was good though, straight from the source.

After the quick dinner. Went back and relaxed and had some of the chocolate covered marshmallows inpurchased earlier in Bouillon.

Tomorrow (Thursday) is the long drive to Munich

After a quick breakfast, which was marvelous, at the Achouffe Airbnb, began the 7hr drive to Munich Germany. Most people think the autobahn is completely speed limit free, but that’s only for some stretches. It often gets limited to 80,100,120 and 130 km/h. I think the fastest I went in this Toyota hybrid was 170km/h (106mph) and still Audi and bmw would fly by at break neck speed. Oh whenever I would enter another country it’d tell me a few of the regulations to on the car display.

This area of Germany, state’s of Rhineland and Baden-Wittenberg are like a combo of Ohio and West Virginia. The hills of West Virginia but without as much forest and more green rolling pastures like Ohio country side. In, and the autobahn... super premium roads, no bumps of cracks, just pure silk.

After finally arriving I find out that Munich is not a friendly car city. I spent 90mins looking for a darn parking spot because most people had the day off since it was German unification day, when east and west Germany reunited. What a pain in the ass!! I finally found somewhere a half mile from where I was staying. Then had to climb 3 stories to get to the apartment! Tired from the drive and frustration of finding a parking spot it was already 6:30pm so I rested for 2hrs and went out to grab a bite to eat at a Greek place, Irodion. My eyes were bigger than my stomach, leftovers for me.

A quick cigar outside on the balcony, 42 degrees out! And it’s time to rest up!

Day 2 Munich

Slept in until 11am and then headed via public bus to Oktoberfest. For as early as it is, there are still many people here, I can’t imagine what it’d be like late.

After a couple hours at Oktoberfest I departed to Munich center. Found an awesome davidoff lounge in the Kempinski hotel, high class, so I had a few cigars to relax for awhile since it has been raining on and off this whole trip!

Apparently Germany has these little beverage shops called Getränkemärktes. Loaded up on a few beers to enjoy back at the apartment and ordered some food to be delivered since it was getting late. The beer here is only $1 per half liter, 3x cheaper than the states for a lot of the stuff here.

Day 3 Munich

Hopped on the subway to town square (Marienplatz) I’m time to grab a cafe seat to see the noon display of the famous glockenspiel. Very touristy, tons of people come to see this as it only happens at 11am and noon.

After that I stopped by saint peters church to check out the artistry inside.

Then stopped at the cafe next door for a snack or two
