I think all you have to do is unlock the second tour, and be in the top 50% of your flight (trophy count). You can check that from the main page in the upper right corner.

What a weird game. No penalty for OB ? And what's up with the ball - got a higher level and then it just disappeared. Didn't lose it or anything, just reverted me back to the simple ball. Couldn't ever get it to do spin anyways... So is it just 1 on 1 or can you actually play 9 holes ?
I did put in my WNYTony when I downloaded it but somehow it has me as guest and I don't see a way to change it.

You use a ball for every hole. No penalties for OB.
Matches are just 1 on 1, unless you enter a tournament.
Oh, and BTW, you are the president of the clan. Accidentally promoted you to prez by mistake.

Like @Redneck_toy says balls are single use items (its one of the ways they monetize the game). So if you get a "better ball" but only have one - its gone after your next hole you play.

You'll earn more throughout your time playing.
