Fountain Pens

So a few years ago a buddy and I got into fountain pens... it all started when we talked about them one evening over cigars, and naturally the rabbit hole of all rabbit holes was unleashed!

I have quite a few worth anything from a few dollars to a few hundred dollars, regular production to one of a kind customs from small independent penmakers.

Is anybody else into fountain pens?

To start he thread off -- Got something new in today... it is a Collaboration of Gravitas Pens and Figboot, a YouTube pen guy who does reviews.

It is the Gravitas Bitfrost

Frosted poly with rainbow PVD hardware and accents. Medium nib. It feels good in the hand and has a nice weight to it. I'll get it inked up this weekend!

Those look really cool, being left handed, I could imagine getting ink all over my left hand while writing with them

I've turned a few for friends, but don't own any.
My issue, on certain types of paper the ink can take seemingly forever to dry, thus smear.
I'm a klutz, so you know who's coming away with stained fingers.

Sweet looking pen, Bill.

Thanks!

Different inks do have different qualities and some do take noticeably longer to dry. Paper is also a huge issue - better quality paper that is fountain pen friendly makes a huge difference. When I write passes for students at work, it is really shitty bulk paper so my lines kind of bleed and look like hell.

And they know me ans the "Fancy Pen Guy" at work, and in meetings where they pass around a document to sign, I'm alway signing in some odd ink color like orange or green lolol!
