Yeah, I know what you mean. I started with the James Hoffman recipe but that was a little thin... I think I'm at adding about 0.5g to what he uses and doing a final dial in on my grind. It won't ever eclipse a pourover for me, but even if I get close it will be much better than whatever the hotels are serving. Hopfully I can find a good local spot or two as well.
And no, that isn't an MM - it is a BonaVita, though still SCAA Certified for proper brew temps and all that. I'll get a MM after it dies... I mainly just use it for my work week mornings as a time saver.
