Bootlegging

Im from Boonevill Mississippi, a small town just north of Tupelo which is a dry county. No alcihol can be sold or possessed in county limits. Bringing any sort of alcihol into prentiss county limits is bootlegging so they say. Ive had many cases of beer confiscated to some crooked ass bastards that most likely drank it themselves. The cops there are not straigh shooters, the county sheriff himself got busted by accident with a barn full of marijuana and a meth cooking laboratory which turned into a drug ring and extortion and other shit if you can fathom that. But, If you manage to get your alcoholic beverage onto your property, your good. But get this... Jack daniels is made in a dry county, the poor bastards that make it cant buy it in the same county its made. But its distributed out of the county but its not considered bootlegging?

Interesting story about Booneville.
The dry Moore Co. thing started during prohibition.
JD's tour explains its 'dryness' has to do with population and politics.
Something about not having a large enough population to cast an accurate vote, as the Co. statute requires.

Baldwyn Mississippi (just south of booneville) county line splits the town in half, so you can walk across the street and buy booze but its illegal on the other side. Pretty stupid. And they wonder why everyone there lives in poverty. Some counties dont sell alcihol on sundays which is also stupid. And if you take a vacation to tour MS, it has to be in business hours on week days. Everything is closed on saturday and sunday, even the mall in tupelo doesnt open on weekends until 10am. Polotics and religion in one hand and the unwillingness to work in the other = miserable failure

They passed sales on Sunday here a couple years ago. Businesses were pissed. That was their day off.
