Allow myself to introduce myself...

Greetings all!

Well, a small cigar forum I'm a mod on is likely going to be closing at the end of the year and another that I post on will be shutting down mid-year... maybe it is me? At least the one other spot I'm on is sticking around - for now at least lololol In any case, thought I would venture out and check out some of the forums that have popped up.

My name is Bill, and I'm in Modesto, CA. I've been into cigars since about 1990 when I was in college, which I guess makes me old... to be fair, I may have just turned 55 a couple of weeks ago, but still act like I am about 14 for the most part. I've been involved in online cigar communities since about the mid-90s. I started off on Prodigy and the Bacchus Wine group on Compuserve that had a cigar section. Then I spent a many years on the alt.smokers.cigars newsgroup back in the day - I still have friends from back then that I get to herf with every so often now. Then when forums came along, I was all in. I have been a member of a TON over the years, including some invite-only things. Some I posted a lot on, some a normal amount, and some I lurked more than anything. It got narrowed to just one or two for many years - the one I am a mod on I have been a member of since '07. Though small, it is a tight community and we have all herfed in Vegas etc over the years many times.

As for what I smoke, it is run the full spectrum from mild to strong and all points in between. I was smoking a good 90% Havanas until the price increase - that pretty much priced me out of that market for the most part, though I still do pick up customs and a few other things here an there. Now I look for a well crafted and well blended cigar that shows good finessee on the part of the blender. I'm always trying new things and on the lookout for recommendations.

Professionally, I am just finishing my 26th year in high school education - the first 16 as a teacher and since then as a high school counselor. It was the best change I could have made, and it really is the best job on campus. I'm a single dad to a 14 year old son - he lives with his mom down in LA most of the time but he and I are still close - we talk or facetime just about every day.

Outside of cigars, I am into watches (most of which I can't afford lol), fountain pens, coffee, on and off again podcasting, and technology. I have a n amateur radio license that I pretty much never used, I got ordained online and have performed 3 weddings, and I sure there are other bits of randomness that will come out of me later that are completely inconsequential.

Thanks for letting me hang out here! Let me know if there is anything I should know.

I'll poke around some of the old thread and revive a few with posts to liven things up lol!

I see a few familiar names on here - great to see you guys here!
