I've read that soil conditions are not the issue with Latakia. It's the cost of production. To transform leaf into Latakia is very laborious making it cost prohibitive in the US. Though, a lot of jabber talk on the net is just that. Writers could be talking out their asses.

I can't imagine too many pipers clinch their volcanos. Even a light volcano is over 50g.
