I'm going to buy my 1st briar pipe.
I'm looking on Ebay at used/estate/old stock pipes.
What should I look for or be aware of?
Should I look at pipes made from pear wood?
Any particular sellers I need to avoid?
I'm not sure I want to try and restore one yet, I just don't want to shell out a chunk of $ in case I mess it up.
I'd appreciate any suggestions and advice you have.
Thanks

Big sale on Savinellis at smokingpipes.com as well. As far as estate pipes, you really need to know what you're getting, a lot of eBay listings indicate great condition while it looks like shit. For a first pipe, I would recommend a darker color in rusticated or sandblast so you don't see the rim darkening as much. Peterson also makes a good pipe for under $100 as mentioned above.

Check eBay seller kcmopipes, it's @Jsnake. I assume if you see one of his listings that you like he'll give you a discount.
