So I went to the post office and pick up the mail today. Had the census survey in it. Got home, opened it and proceeded to tell them that there are 2 people, lawfully married living in this domicile. Turn the page, and it asks how big the property is, etc, etc..
I simply write, " None of your fucking business" between the lines. I then place it in the return envelope to send back.
Wife calls. Been in Amarillo for the day. I tell her about the census and what I do, and she asks, "Why do you have to be such an asshole?"
WTF?? They already have me down as the owner of record, complete with lot size and square footage of said property. Fuck the government. A little cross referencing in the tax database would reveal the info they are seeking. Am I wrong to do such a thing?

I trust the government about as much as a fart with diarrhea. Besides, they already know everything about me and my property. Public record. Fuck them and their info mining....

EDIT: I'm sure, "Fuck the government" will put me on a watch list. IDGAF, They have all the information they need.

They do it to help figure out which areas qualify for certain government grants and things like expanded free lunch programs at school. They use the data from a sample of the area.

Legally all the Constitution asks for is a counting of the population. So, not filling out the extra shit is just a person's choice.

They want to see how honest you are. That way they can hold you accountable to it later. Tell you that you knowingly submitted fraudulent information on a government form. Then they force you to go undercover to hate group meetings which results in you testifying against a guy named Ray "Razor" Sullivan, the leader of a local white supremacist motorcycle gang. At that point you're in witness protection, but the federal escorts stop when the trial is over. He's released and all charges are dropped due to a clerical error, and now you have a bounty on your head and have to move to Papua New Guinea. Fast forward 3 years. You're living as a brick layer in your new island home. A census taker comes round and asks you for the number of residents in your household and the size of your property....what's your next move?

Crazy. That info doesn’t seem necessary for the census.

Me, I’d just be too damn lazy to fill out that side. Might have time to draw some interesting art though.

It even asks for income levels. Again, the IRS has this info.
No need for these questions on the census.

Similar to my employer "asking" me for my vaccination date. It's not a HIPA violation if you freely give it to them. None of their business.

That, and I'm just an asshole that likes to be difficult

This sounds more like personal experience.
On the plus side, glad your back from Papua New Guinea.
