    Gurgalunas' Fun Contest reviews

First Punch for me. I didnt get much sweetness from this stick, and missed the leather that was plentiful in the Oliva V I had earlier. I'll give this another try someday, as my palate might not have been "on". @Dran , I gotta thank you for offering this opportunity. Smoking blind was a...

    Gurgalunas' Fun Contest reviews

Well, it's time to finish the Fun Contest reviews... Wrapper is dark compared to most of the others, and reminds me of the smell of a wet dog, oddly enough. Prelight is vegetal. Maybe green grass? Draw kinda tough, so give it a little work over with the PD. This one goes straight to the...

I keep seeing these on sale, but having never tried one, I never knew which to buy. Almost pulled the trigger multiple times. Interested in hearing comparisons to Melanio and maduro versions too.

    Gurgalunas' Fun Contest reviews

Rainy evening, but I let contestant D acclimate for a bit to the low indoor humidity before coming outside. Cigar is about 5ishx50+. Darker wrapper than the rest so far. Oily. Usual smell of barnyard- I think I'm in a smelling rut and only smell barnyard. Need more practice in this regard...

    Gurgalunas' Fun Contest reviews

Perfect draw opened it up fairly well. After some of the issues, I hit it again too. I cant say it was opened fully, but was definitely a smokable cigar, in terms of draw. As for needing samples, there's a solid chance I have another lurking in the tupperdore... despite what Master of...

It was one if the mini boveda packs dran sent. I'll have to check %. I didnt put the bag in the humi. It was at 68 degrees, sitting on top of the humi, bag sealed. House RH is low, so shouldn't have picked up anything beyond the boveda%. EDIT- 62% boveda.

    Gurgalunas' Fun Contest reviews

@Dran I keep wondering what factors caused the burn issues. Was it all the cigar? How much of a role did the gusty wind play? The cigar was kept in the 5 finger bag with the bodega pack you sent. Didn't seem humid outside, but was that an issue??? I've no doubt that the flavor of the cigar...

    Gurgalunas' Fun Contest reviews

WTF. Farthest thing from my mind... Nothing like the few CC I've tried. I'll chalk it up to the difficulties I had with keeping it lit and hope another chance yields a better result... Thanks @Dran for the Cuban. Really wish that one had gone better...

Wife is out of town, so playing single parent. Kids are down, so let's burn contestant C... Sitting on the screened porch, 60 degrees still, breezy. Rain coming tomorrow, but doesnt feel overly humid. Wrapper has a barnyard aroma again, but there's something else... Reminds me faintly of...

Dammit Mickey. You probably will cause the purchase of 30 bottles with this thread. Its guys like you that cause the problems! Lol... Go to other social media platforms and witness the fervor that causes the good stuff to sell out fast. I'm heading to my known source for the HMcK tomorrow...

    Gurgalunas' Fun Contest reviews

Time for Contestant B. Again, the wrapper had a barnyard aroma, not as powerful as contestant A yesterday. Pre-light draw was distinctly grassy, with an easy draw. Head is distinctly flattened. I'd guess it's about 5x50. Initially, flavor was vegetal, kinda like hay that lays swathed and...

    Gurgalunas' Fun Contest reviews

The pepper starting out light, then totally disappearing really threw me. And the return was after it nearly went out. Thought I might have gotten after it a little aggressively. Reading others notes, my experience with this cigar was not far off... havent smoked a Ec Hab wrapper before that...

    Gurgalunas' Fun Contest reviews

Ok, starting out with Contestant A. Went out on the property to relax and enjoy round one. Definite barnyard smell pre-light. Initially, leather, nutty flavors to start, transitioning into some light pepper. Starting 2/3, pepper diminishes. Still good nutty flavor. Very pleasant smoke...

    Gurgalunas' Fun Contest reviews

I was the lucky winner of Dran's Fun Contest last week. In a nutshell, he shipped out a unlabeled 5er, and now I've got to review, offer guesses on tobacco origin, brand, etc. Oh, and he kicked me in the nuts with chaperones for the 5 naked ladies he sent... Just so nobody gets their hopes...
